Sports Illustrated's Don Banks has the Vikings moving up to #24 from #28.

After a shaky start last week at home against Jacksonville, Christian Ponder did indeed look like a quarterback who has taken a significant year-two jump, just like the Vikings have been saying all preseason. Not that an overtime win over the Jaguars is a great measuring stick, but with a trip to Indy looming this week, Minnesota has a chance to be among the league's 2-0 crowd. After last year's 3-13 debacle, that'll do for now.

Over at ESPN, Dan Graziano also had the Vikings moving up to #28 from #30. But his praise was muted.

Adrian Peterson's stunning return from injury was one of a few bright spots.

For Green Bay, the rankings were not so kind. At SI, Banks dropped the Packers from the #1 position to #5.

It's not yet time to panic in Titletown, but it will be if the Packers fall to the visiting Bears in the opener of the league's Thursday night showcase. Green Bay would be 0-2 at home, two games behind Chicago, with four of its next five on the road. After starting last season 13-0, the Packers have dropped three of their past five games, including playoffs. But they haven't lost consecutive regular season games started by Aaron Rodgers since Weeks 5-6 of 2010, the franchise's most recent Super Bowl season.

Graziano only drops the Pack to #4 from #1 and questions if the team can rise up to the level of 2011.

Beaten up at home by the 49ers; can they regain last season's 15-1 magic?
