In just a few short weeks, college football will be back in South Dakota. Today, the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference came out with their preseason coaches' poll.

Last year, in their first year in the NSIC, USF took their new conference by storm by winning nine games, and losing only two games. The Cougars were picked to finish eighth overall and fifth in the NSIC South last year. USF ended up finishing fourth overall, and upsetting St. Cloud State on the road in their opener.

This year, the Cougars were selected to finish fifth overall behind Minnesota State, Minnesota Duluth, Winona State and St. Cloud State. In the NSIC South, USF was picked to finish third overall behind Minnesota State and Winona State.

USF senior wide receiver Carrington Hanna was selected as 2013 NSIC South Preseason Player of the Year. Hanna led the NSIC in receptions per game, and was second in touchdowns a year ago. Hanna and cornerback John Tidwell were picked as players to watch.

USF's crosstown rival, Augustana, was picked to finish ninth overall, and fifth in the NSIC South. The Vikings hired a new coach, Jerry Olszewski. Augustana's running back Dajon Newell and defensive back Thomas Vanasek were picked as players to watch.
