SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Two people have been sentenced in South Dakota for separate assaults on federal officers.

Authorities say 36-year-old Jess Young was in custody at the Oglala Sioux Tribal Jail on the Pine Ridge Reservation last November  when he shoved a correctional officer against a wall and bit her multiple times. U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says the Rosebud man pleaded guilty in March and was sentenced recently to 2 -1/2 years in prison.

Twenty-year-old Marty LaRoche of Lower Brule in April pleaded guilty to assaulting a federal officer in February while trying to prevent the arrest of his sister. He was sentenced this week to a year of probation. He also must get treatment for substance abuse and anger issues.
