The future is now for the Minnesota Twins.

The Twins have already called up top prospect Byron Buxton and pitcher Alex Meyer. Now, Miguel Sano is making his way to the Twins in the Big Leagues.

At Double-AA, Chattanooga this summer, Sano has a .274 batting average and has blasted 18 doubles, one triple, 18 home runs and 48 RBIs in 66 games played.

To make room for Sano, the Twins optioned Kennys Vargas to Triple-AAA, Rochester.

Minnesota plays Kansas City Thursday at 7:10 p.m. CDT. Kyle Gibson will pitch for the Twins.

The Royals are in first place in the American League Central with a 44-31 record. The Twins (41-37) are second place and trails Kansas City by 4 1/2 games.

As a Twins fan, I think it's great that Twins management recognizes that their top prospects may help them stay competitive and in the playoff hunt as the summer rolls on.
