MENNO, S.D. (AP) — The Menno Fire Department has purchased a truck with a special history.

The Yankton Press & Dakotan reports that the truck comes from Wallkill, N.Y., where it played a key role transporting firefighters to Ground Zero during the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Menno Fire Chief Scott Simonsen says the station had been looking for a new truck to replace its old rescue truck for some time before the staff came across the Wallkill vehicle on the Internet.

The squad struggled to find trucks for less than $80,000, but in June 2012 Simonsen found the Wallkill truck listed for $37,500. It took more than a year to complete the deal and secure the title.
