PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — Former political candidate Annette Bosworth is going to trial for alleged election law violations during the 2014 Republican U.S. Senate primary.

Jury selection is expected to begin on Monday, and the court and jury are expected to start hearing evidence in the case on Wednesday.

Bosworth, 43, has pleaded not guilty to six counts each of perjury and filing false documents. The Sioux Falls physician has said she's the target of "political persecution" in the case.

Bosworth received 6 percent of the vote in the five-way primary on June 3 for the 2014 Republican U.S. Senate nomination.

The cases of Bosworth and former independent candidate Clayton Walker, who faces similar accusations, spurred election law changes in Pierre during the 2015 legislative session.
