Trace Adkins is back at it on the silver screen, this time in Stagecoach: The Texas Jack Story. The country artist stars in the new film, set for release in November.

Directed by Terry Miles, Stagecoach: The Texas Jack Story tells the tale of Nathaniel Reed -- played by Adkins -- a reformed gunslinger who has settled onto a ranch with his wife, Laura Lee. However, things get complicated when one of Reed's old enemies comes back for vengeance against him years after being injured by Reed in a stagecoach robbery -- and to make things tougher for Reed, the man after him is now a U.S. Marshall. Facing these troubles, Reed turns back to his old ways as Texas Jack, the most wanted outlaw in the West.

The film also stars Kim Coates, Judd Nelson, Michelle Harrison, Garry Chalk and Helena Marie, and is set for release in select theaters and through VOD on Nov. 4. Stagecoach: The Texas Jack Story was written by Matt Williams and Dan Benamor, and produced by Jack Nasser.

In June, Adkins released a new single, “Lit;” the song is his second single with Wheelhouse Records (BBR Music Group), following "Jesus and Jones.” Both of the songs will be on Adkins’ forthcoming record, the details of which have yet to be announced.

“It’s freaking awesome. It’s a good album,” Adkins says. “I spent the last couple years working on this, and there’s been no sense of urgency: Nobody’s been pushing me; we’ve taken our time. I’m really pleased with the way it turned out.”

Adkins also recently starred in Traded, a film also featuring country legend Kris Kristofferson.

"Lit" is available for download on iTunes, and more information about Stagecoach: The Texas Jack Story can be found via IMDB.
