At least three people were killed in weekend crashes in southeast South Dakota.

The Highway Patrol says a teenager from Parker was killed shortly before 6:30pm Friday in a one-vehicle crash on State Highway 42, about ten miles west of Sioux Falls in Minnehaha County.

The Patrol says 16-year-old Tonya Anderson was a passenger in a car driven by 17-year-old Shadd Larry Tullis of Sioux Falls.

They crashed as Tullis was trying to pass two vehicles when he came upon another vehicle and lost control trying to avoid the crash.

And a Sioux Falls woman, 41-year-old Stephanie Shields, was killed late Friday night on Interstate 29, 12 miles south of Brookings in Moody County.

Troopers say Shields' car collided head-on with a semi-truck as she drove north in the southbound lanes.

The truck driver, a Rapid City man, was not injured.

And Yankton County authorities say a man who was walking on State Highway 50 east of Yankton was hit and killed around 9:15 Saturday night.

Sheriff's officials say Troy Roberts, 44, of rural Yankton was walking in the roadway when he was struck and killed.

Authorities say the vehicle driver will not be charged.
