The weather this weekend (May 20-22, 2016) is going to be perfect for camping. Lows will be in the mid 50's in the evening and mid 70's during the day. There is nothing better than the sunrise and the sunset when you're camping. Hot dogs always taste better when they're cooked over a campfire. Don't forget the s'mores.

The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks is declaring this weekend the unofficial start to summer. It's the Open House and Free Fishing weekend, May 20, 21 and 22, 2016. Entrance fees will be waived at all South Dakota state parks and free fishing is offered for residents and non-residents.

Fishing regulations and limits as well as camping fees still apply. Parks will also be offering daily activities to celebrate the event.

Whether you're bird watching near Fort Randall Dam, fishing at Gavin's Point or hiking at Newton Hills, load up the camper and start the summer off with a trip to your favorite South Dakota State Park.
