There’s A New Addition At The Buddy Holly Center In Lubbock, Texas
(AP) - The childhood home of drummer Jerry Allison of The Crickets has been placed beside the Buddy Holly Center in Lubbock, Texas.
The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports Allison came up with the song "That'll Be The Day" in his old bedroom, and Holly got the title from a line in a John Wayne movie.
A Nashville producer called it the worst song he ever heard.
The Crickets re-recorded it and it was a hit. Allison says he used to hang out with Holly in a '55 Oldsmobile talking about songs and girls and Elvis. Allison adds, "And sometimes we'd just enjoy a Coca-Cola, spelled b-e-e-r."
