There are country music superstars. There are country music legends. And then, above even that, there are country music icons.

And so it is with Patsy Cline.

Many people say that patsy had the most beautiful voice in country music. I won't argue with that. All these decades later, when you hear a Patsy song, there's no doubt that it is, indeed, Miss Patsy Cline.

I suppose adding to the 'legend' that is 'Patsy Cline' is the fact that, for many of us longtime country music fans, the day the music died wasn't in February 1959, it was March 5, 1963. That was the day that Patsy Cline died in a plane crash.

She was just 30 years old.

So what was the first number on hit for this lady that looms so large in our music world?

Well, unbelievable as it sounds, Patsy had just five Top 10 hits in her lifetime (a sixth, which was released just prior to her death, would reach #8), including two #1's. Her first big hit, 'Walkin' After Midnight', peaked at #2 in 1957, but it wouldn't be until 1961 that Patsy reached the top with 'I Fall To Pieces'. Her follow up, the Willie Nelson penned 'Crazy' peaked at #2. And then, the next single would prove to be the final #1 in her lifetime, 'She's Got You', in 1962.

So only two #1's for one of country music's greatest legends in a lifetime cut way to short. But Patsy Cline is proof that great songs by a great singer never die.
