Sun Records.

The phrase overflows with legend and legacy. What comes to mind first?

Memphis. Elvis. Cash. The Killer. And perhaps a bit forgotten, Carl Perkins.

Joe Morrison and I were talking one day about artist's that aren't in the Country Music Hall of Fame that should be. Folks like Crystal, Bocephus, Eddie Rabbit and others.

And Joe, an Old Time Country Music Hall of Famer himself, mentioned the legendary Carl Perkins.

Yep, no question about it. Carl Perkins was one of those legendary artist's that helped 'make' Sun Records.

So much more than 'Blue Suede Shoes', Carl was an innovator, in both country and rock and roll. Carl passed away at the much too young age of 65 back in 1998, but the legacy and influence he built is still felt today, and the Rockabilly Hall of Famer's sound will never die.

In the video clip below Sun Records founder Sam Phillips and others talk about the man who should be in the Country Music Hall of Fame.
