The Miracle Child Perseveres [AUDIO]

On September 12, 1991, Darcy Keith's life was pretty normal.  A gifted student in science at Ball State University in Muncie, IN, the attractive, intelligent, and popular 22 year old led an active normal collegiate life.

Then tragedy struck!  She was riding home with four sorority sisters from a function in Kentucky when their car was hit broadside by a semi-tractor.  The car was crushed completely by an impact so great that the license plate of the semi-tractor was imprinted into its crumpled side panel.  Two of Darcy's friends, where she also was sitting, were killed instantly.  Darcy suffered traumatic brain injury and paralysis.  She was also in a coma.  Darcy tells KSOO Radio:

"I didn't play the victim and say 'woe is me, I'm 22 years old, in a wheelchair, wearing diapers, and I couldn't remember anything because of the injury to my brain.  What am I going to do with the rest of my life?'"  Some of us may be in situations where the circumstances are insurmountable.  We can't get out of there.  We can't overcome our circumstances.  That's what I was faced with.  I just said, 'I'm going to do it.  I'm going to persevere and do the best I can.  When God closes a door, he opens a window.  He opened a window of opportunity for me to do a lot of different things. Yes, I'm different than what I was before.  Yes, I have a new normal.  Sure, I can grieve my old life and just give up.  I now look forward to what I can do getting a new opportunity."

And---that new opportunity came about because of Darcy Keith's faith in God!
