The Festival of the Bands is Saturday in Sioux Falls. It’ll be a full day of events including a parade downtown and field competition at Howard Wood Field. The lineup includes bands from Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska as well as South Dakota. This year there will be 29 bands in the parade and 25 on the field.

The parade through downtown Sioux Falls will be an eight block route along Main Avenue starting at 8:45 am.  The field competition begins at 10:45 am.

“During the parade and at prelims, bands compete in four classes for rating and ranking, with judges offering evaluation and commentary to the competitors. Trophies are awarded to the top three bands in each class. At finals, the 10 advancing bands compete in one class for trophies to the top five places.”

The Washington and Roosevelt bands will kick off the parade. Click here for a schedule of the day’s performances.
