Crooks Teen Cited for Killing Three Horses in Hit and Run
A teenager from Crooks has been cited for an incident earlier this month in which three horses were struck by a hit-and-run driver and killed.
Captain James Hoekman of the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s office says an anonymous tip to Crimestoppers on Monday helped investigators with the case:
Hoekman says the teen was cited for failure to report an accident and failure to maintain financial responsibility.
The three horses, which were valued at around $18,000, had broken through a fence and were on the road when they were struck and killed around 5:00 a.m. on September 14, north of Crooks on 469th Avenue.
Hoekman says the case might not have been solved without the anonymous tip to Crimestoppers.
