For one brief moment, Katelyn Norman will feel like a regular teenager.

The 14-year-old girl from Campbell County, Tennessee, who is dying of bone cancer, has always wanted to go to the prom and placed the event on her bucket list, so Tuesday there will be one in her honor:

They said that it has spread a lot, my cancer, and that it's the beginning of the end of my days and so we started a bucket list. [I'm] ecstatic. I can't wait. I just can't wait to go."

The prom’s theme is ‘Katie in the Sky with Diamonds.’ About 1,000 people plan to be on hand with candles lining the road to show their support for Katie.

Katelyn’s mother, Erica, says she only wants to help her little girl. She said,  "I just want to give her what she isn't going to see and just try to fulfill what she wants to do. It's not really much, but it's something to her."

The nurse at Katelyn's school has been blown away by the effect she has had, noting, "I've never seen this community come together quite as much as they have over one single person. [Katelyn] will change your life. You'll never be the same. She will make an impact on you. She's a jewel. My life will never be the same."

Another item on Katelyn’s bucket list was to ride a motorcycle, so last weekend a local motorcycle club decided to help by organizing a ride in her honor. Katelyn was too weak to get out of the car once she got there, but she was still touched by the gesture, noting, "It just brings people close together. It's just amazing."
