The South Dakota Buffalo Ranch that was used in the motion picture "Dances with Wolves" has a new owner, and it's none other than media mogul Ted Turner.

The former owner of the Triple U Buffalo Ranch, Kay Ingle, recently confirmed the sale. Ingle says her family elected to sell the ranch to pay off debts.

The Capitol Journal in Pierre reports that the registered deed for the ranch shows it was sold to a limited liability partnership based at another South Dakota buffalo ranch that Turner owns.

The Ingle's received a tidy sum for the property. The price listed with the register of deeds is $32.4 million, or about $720 per acre.

Turner can certainly afford it, at last check his estimated worth was around $2.2 billion, according to Forbes Magazine.

The Triple U Buffalo Ranch had been in the Ingle's family since the mid 1900's, when Kay Ingle's parents, Roy and Nellie Houck bought the property.

According to Ingle, all the buffalo and horses on the ranch are included in the sale. Ingle said, "We're done with this now. It's in Mr. Turner's control and it's his operation."

The 1990 western epic "Dances with Wolves" starring Kevin Costner was about a Union Army soldier who befriends Lakota Indians. Much of the movie was filmed in central and western South Dakota.

The motion picture ended up winning seven Academy Awards, including best picture and best director, which also went to Kevin Costner.
