Taylor Swift was caught on tape dropping the F-bomb at the 2013 MTV VMAs last week, but it apparently had little to do with her ex Harry Styles, despite what was originally believed.

According to Swift's pal, duet partner and tourmate Ed Sheeran, when the 'Red' singer said "Shut the f--- up" to BFF Selena Gomez, she wasn't talking about Styles at all. In fact, she was just being a good friend.

Sheeran, who was seated next to Swift and Gomez at the event, cleared up his friend's faux pas in a recent interview. "Selena said, 'I think Miley's gonna win,'" Sheeran points out. "And Taylor was like, 'Shut the f--- up!' That's all that was!"

If Sheeran is to be believed, Swift was merely being a good friend and trying to instill some confidence in her fellow famous friend, who was up for the same VMA as other big stars. (Let's just hope this doesn't initiate beef between Swift and Miley Cyrus.)

Sheeran did acknowledge that Swift was aghast about being caught on camera dropping the baddest of all bad words, spilling that, "Taylor was like, 'I think I messed up.'"

There you have it -- a little clarity on the situation! And Swift shouldn't fret. She's human.
