For more than 30 years, "A Taste of Minnesota" has been entertaining fans with a fun-filled weekend featuring concerts, food and fireworks. But sadly, those good times have come to an end.

Linda Maddox, the summer festival’s general manager, announced the closing and her retirement on Thursday, February 25, 2016 via the event’s Facebook page. The food-and-music festival was started by her late husband, Ron Maddox, in 1983. The couple managed it together from 1996 to 2008. The festival was sold to a management group and Ron Maddox died in 2010. The new management tried to bring in bigger acts and began charging an entry fee, which didn’t sit well with fans who were used to the free entry.

In 2014, Flooding forced the festival to be moved to Waconia, Minnesota. The festival drew about 80,000 people in 2014. Last years numbers are not available.
