Super Bowl XI Winning QB Ken Stabler Dies

Former NFL QB Ken Stabler passed away on Wednesday.

The details surrounding his death are that he was battling stage 4 colon cancer but passed away peacefully amongst his family.

As a player, Stabler player for three teams including the Houston Oilers and St. Louis Rams but most notably with the Oakland Raiders.

Stabler was a 4x Pro Bowler, but his claim to fame has to be the Super Bowl XI win over the Minnesota Vikings.

According to ESPN.com Stabler's brain and spinal cord were donated to the Boston University's Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy Center to further research into degenerative brain disease among athletes.  ESPN.com cited Stabler's family as the source of that information.

Stabler was 69.
