Sundance Head is asking for prayers as his father, Roy Head, remains in intensive care following surgery to repair a ruptured aorta.

The Season 11 winner of The Voice says his dad is unable to speak or move right now. He's being sedated following a successful surgery. "The doc told our family its a miracle he made it [sic]," Sundance wrote in a Dec. 31 Facebook post.

The events that led to Roy's hospitalization and emergency surgery started last Thursday (Dec. 29) while he was hunting. Sundance says his father fought off what he thought was just back pain, but he was eventually convinced to go to the hospital. In a series of tweets and Facebook posts, the 37-year-old singer and his wife, Misty Head, kept fans updated. At 8:45AM on Friday morning, they said Roy was stable and well cared for by nurses.

"Thank you all for he prayers they are working [sic]," Head writes. "Once he made it through surgery surgeon came out and spoke to us and around his neck was a chain with a big cross so I knew he was in the hands he needed to be in. Will post more soon once we find out more thank you all god bless."

The most recent update came on Monday, but on Tuesday Sundance tweeted a prayer request for his family, as well as the family of fellow Season 11 singer Austin Allsup, whose father is also in intensive care.

Roy was on hand to watch his son win Season 11 of The Voice on Dec. 13. The night before, Sundance and Blake Shelton had performed "Treat Her Right," a Top 5 hit for Roy in 1965.

In addition to updates on his father's health, Sundance has been teasing some big news with regard to his career and indicating he'll be touring in February.
