Voters went to the polls in Tea, South Dakota on Tuesday, October 14th, 2014, facing two ballots with two separate school bond issues.  After the votes were counted, one of the bonds will go through, the other will not.

Voters in Tea approved the bond that will allow for a new elementary addition, high school classroom space and security entrances, however a new high school performing arts center will have to possibly come later.

The first bond, dealing with a new elementary addition and improvements for the high school passed with 72% of the vote. It will give the district $5.2 million to add 14 elementary classrooms, two high school classrooms and a security entrance at the cost of local property taxes increasing $5.08 a month for every $100,000 in property value.

The bond for the performing arts center failed by just 12 votes with 59.16% of voters saying yes.  60% of the vote was needed to pass this bond.
