Steve Barnhart Tells Us about Crop Protection

Talking with Steve Barnhart, Agronomy Manager for Winfield, about profitability today with crops. We interviewed him at the National NAFB Convention in Kansas City.

Steve definitely knows our area being from Iowa. He also has 38 years experience.

I first asked him about crop protection. With prices being so low, farmers are forced to cut costs.

My concern is that they be careful where they make the cut. Steve's answer was, "The most expensive herbicide program, is the one that didn't work."

He has been involved in Winfield's Answer Plot Program for nearly 20 years. I remember when they started with one plot.

My question is how many are there now? Steve said, "Today there's over 200."
