Special Deer Hunt to Be Held in Sioux Falls in October

For the fourth year in a row, an archery antlerless deer hunt will be held in Sioux Falls, beginning October 2nd, to help control the deer population in the northeast area of the city.

State Game, Fish and Parks Regional Supervisor Arden Petersen says the application for access permits can be found on his department's website, and he says a few changes have been made this year:

The ten hunting zones are located mostly on private land north and west of Rice Street, near Interstate 229.

Police Chief Doug Barthel says more car-deer crashes occur in a one-mile section of East Rice Street than on any other one-mile stretch of road in the state.
The deadline to apply for a deer tag in the city season is next Wednesday, August 21st.
