South Dakotans are being encouraged to donate to the relief fund that was set up after Wessington Springs was struck by a tornado.

Governor Dennis Daugaard says anyone can donate to the American Red Cross recovery efforts by calling 1-800-Red-Cross or visiting redcross.org.

Cash donations to the Wessington Springs Relief Fund can also be brought to the American Bank & Trust in Wessington Springs and other communities in that area, including Alpena, Huron, Huron-Walmart, Wolsey, Miller, Pierre, Mellette and De Smet.

Close to a dozen businesses were damaged and more than two dozen homes were left uninhabitable when the tornado struck last week.
