SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Seventy percent of South Dakota's winter wheat crop is rated in good to excellent condition as the year comes to a close.

The Agriculture Department's latest crop report says most areas of South Dakota saw below-normal temperatures and average snowfall during the month.

Cattle and calf conditions across the state are rated 85 percent good to excellent, and 86 percent of sheep and lambs are in those categories.

Stock water supplies are rated 89 percent adequate to surplus, and hay and forage supplies are 98 percent adequate to surplus.
