PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — The 2015 Nation's Report Card shows reading and math scores for South Dakota's eighth graders have slipped slightly over the past two years.

The South Dakota results generally mirror national trends seen from the test, officially known as the National Assessment of Educational Progress.

Results released Wednesday show South Dakota eighth-graders scored an average of 285 on the 2015 math test, compared with the national average of 281. Students scored 287 in 2013.

Eighth-graders scored an average of 267 on the 2015 reading test, compared with the national average of 264. Students scored 268 two years ago.

South Dakota's scores in fourth grade reading and math are the same as national averages. The math score is 240, down from 241 in 2013, while the reading score is 220, up from 218 two years ago.
