It's taken South Dakota State wide receiver Jake Wieneke just two seasons to establish himself as one of the best pass catchers in the country, and so it's no surprise that heading into his junior season in Brookings, he's on a very select pre-season list.

The Maple Grove, Minnesota native has been named to the HERO Sports 2016 FCS Pre-Season All-America Team, one of just six Missouri Valley Conference players on that elite squad.

Wieneke enters the 2016 season second on Jackrabbits all-time list with 27 receiving touchdowns. He's third in school history with 2,876 career receiving yards, and sixth with 145 career receptions.

Despite missing two games last year, Wieneke still amassed 1,472 receiving yards (an average of 122 yards per game) and scored 11 touchdowns. After the season, he was named to three different national all-america teams.

In 2014, Wieneke was named the MVFC Freshman of the Year after leading SDSU with 73 catches for 1,404 yards and a school-record 16 touchdowns.

His teammates Jacob Ohnesorge (OL) and Cole Langer (DL) are on the second team.
