The South Dakota State women’s basketball program has landed a transfer from the Big East Conference. Forward Tonoia Wade is coming to Brookings from St. John's University. She will sit out the 2015-16 season, per NCAA regulations, and will suit up for the Jackrabbits as a sophomore for the 2016-17 season.

The six-footer played in 27 games at St. John's as a freshman, averaging one point and two rebounds a game.

Wade is no stranger to SDSU head coach Aaron Johnston and his staff. The Jacks tried to recruit her out of Bloomington, Minnesota, where she was an all-state player twice, leading Kennedy High School to back-to-back state championship appearances. Wade finished her high school career with more than 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.

When she graduated from high school in 2014, Wade was a four-star recruit, ranked 21st at her position by ESPN HoopGurlz and ranked No. 99th nationally by ProspectsNation.com.
