SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — South Dakota farmers this year produced less spring wheat and winter wheat than last year but more durum wheat.

The Agriculture Department's annual small grains summary estimates South Dakota spring wheat production at 60.5 million bushels, down 16 percent from 2014, and winter wheat production at 42.7 million bushels, down 28 percent.

The state's durum wheat production is pegged at 246,000 bushels, up 37 percent.

Oat production in South Dakota this year is up 36 percent, to 12.6 million bushels. Barley production is down 20 percent, to 703,000 bushels.
