Hundreds of South Dakotans are coming together to show appreciation for the brave women and men who put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe, and protect our freedoms.

Organizer founder Tony Bour says South Dakota Salutes will host events to say thank you to first responders of all kinds, as well as raise money to support the families of those heroes who gave their lives in the line of duty.

"I just feel so strongly that we have these people that are virtually giving their lives to serve us on a daily basis. While we do have other events that honor first responders, this project is over and above!"

Bour says the premier kickoff for South Dakota Salutes is being planned as a two day appreciation event at Hunter's Pointe Shooting complex in Humboldt on September 26th and 27th. The first responders will participate in a number of markmanship competitions, free of charge.

Anyone interested in showing their appreciation is invited to sponsor individuals or teams competing in top shot in sporting clays, rife and pistol markmanship is urged to contact South Dakota Salutes through their website: www.SDsalutes.org.
