A deployment ceremony will be held Saturday morning for approximately 160 Soldiers of the South Dakota Army National Guard's 1742nd Transportation Company.

The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. at Harrisburg High School.

Gov. Dennis Daugaard, Congresswoman Kristi Noem and Maj. Gen. Tim Reisch, the adjutant general of the SDNG, are scheduled to speak.

Guard officials say the 1742nd will deploy to Afghanistan for a year-long tour in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The unit's mission will provide transportation of both dry and refrigerated containerized cargo, general non-containerized cargo and bulk water and fuel products.

The 1742nd is based in Sioux Falls with a detachment in Flandreau.
