South Dakota farms and ranches that have been in the same family for 150 years will be recognized for the first time this year as Sesquicentennial Farms during the Century Farm celebration at the South Dakota State Fair in Huron, August 31, 2017.

Krystil Smit, South Dakota Farm Bureau Executive Director, tells us,

We are pleased to add another opportunity to recognize more family farms and ranches in South Dakota. We are especially thrilled to be offering this during our centennial year celebration.

South Dakota Farm Bureau has partnered with the South Dakota Department of Agriculture since 1984 to recognize Century Farms, as well as those that have been in the same family for 125 years as Quasquicentennial Farms.

This will be the first year to recognize 150-year farm families as Sesquicentennial Farms. For more information and an application please visit South Dakota Farm Bureau online.
