South Dakota Event to Offer Tool to Help Recover Lost Kids
BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. (AP) — State officials will be in Belle Fourche Tuesday evening to encourage parents to register their children in a comprehensive child identification program.
The South Dakota Child Identification Program will collect information to register the children at the Belle Fourche Middle School. The kits may include child's photos, dental impressions, fingerprints, a DNA cheek swab and video interview.
The information packets will be given to each child's parents to keep. The kit is meant to aid law enforcement in recovering missing children.
The state's program is part of MASONICHIP, an initiative of the Masons. The South Dakota Academy of Physician Assistants is among the groups that help implement the program in South Dakota.
The event will run from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
