One of the highest ranking officials in the Democrat Party will make their way to South Dakota this month. Alas it will not be Barack Obama who has yet to visit the Rushmore state as President.

The South Dakota Democratic Party is hosting its annual McGovern Day dinner with special guest Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz on Saturday, April 18, 2015, in Sioux Falls.

South Dakota Democratic Party Chair Ann Tornberg was exuberant in the press release trumpeting the announcement.

"Senator George McGovern was a champion of everyday South Dakotans and instrumental in strengthening the South Dakota Democratic Party. We are excited to welcome DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz to South Dakota and look forward to showing her how energized and determined South Dakotan Democrats are to move our Party forward."

Wasserman Schultz has been in Congress since winning election in 2004. Her District includes the area in and around Miami, Florida. She was appointed to the DNC post in 2011 and her current term runs through 2016.

McGovern Day is slated for Saturday, April 18, 2015. It will be held at the Holiday Inn-City Center in downtown Sioux Falls.
