On the heels of last week’s South Dakota Republican Convention, the Democrats will fill out their dance card for the November ballot.

There will certainly not be a resolution to impeach the President.  By that standard, the gathering in Yankton will be relatively tame compared to the GOP gathering.  An aspect that’s worthy of attention is the setting according to Yankton’s Bernie Hunhoff who represents the area in the South Dakota Legislature.  “It’s probably the first political convention here since statehood.”  Yankton of course is the former capital of the Dakota Territory before the area split into the current configuration.

Even though there should be a minimum of controversy, Hunhoff says the buzz will be palpable with two women on the Democrat Gubernatorial ticket.  “It was historic with Susan (Wismer) as the first woman nominee of a major party and now we’ve got a two-lady tag team.  Susy Blake is just a bundle of energy and any campaign would be blessed to have that kind of energy infusion.”

The gala will be held at the National Archery Center which recently gained notoriety after winning a bid to host of the 2014 IFAA World Field Archery Championships this August.
