South Dakota Corn, Soybean Crops to Be Smaller This Year

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — The latest estimates from the federal Agriculture Department predict smaller corn and soybean crops in South Dakota this year.

Corn production is forecast at 760 million bushels, down 3 percent from 2014. Soybean production is pegged at 228 million bushels, down 1 percent from last year's record

Winter wheat is forecast to be down 32 percent, to 40.3 million bushels.

Production of spring wheat and dry beans also is expected to be down in the state. But production increases are forecast for oats, sorghum and alfalfa hay.
