Pilots with the South Dakota Wing of the Civil Air Patrol are searching for hunters thought stranded in the Black Hills after last weekends snow storms.

The South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks asked for the search after getting numerous reports of stranded hunters in an area of the state that received large amounts of snow. It is not known how many hunters may be stranded.

The Civil Air Patrol says planes will fly in popular elk hunting area from the Black Hills to the South Dakota / Wyoming border. [Source: Rapid City Journal]
