There won't be any national championships or New Year's Day bowl wins at stake when Nebraska hosts Miami Saturday night at Memorial Stadium, which is a bit unusual for a rivalry that has seen its share of big games over the years.

The Cornhuskers come into the game 3-0 and back in the Top 25, after a week on the outside, following last Saturday's 55-19 win at Fresno State.

I talked to the 'Voice of the Huskers' Greg Sharpe about the game in California, and his prediction last week that Nebraska needed to jump on the Bulldogs early, which is exactly what the Huskers did, leading by two touchdowns less than three minutes into the game:

As for Saturday night's game with Miami, this is the latest installment in a series which saw the Huskers and Hurricanes play in five bowl games between 1984 and 2002, with four national championships at stake.

I asked Greg if he believed Miami was Nebraska's biggest non-conference rival over the years:

Kickoff is 7:00pm Saturday in Lincoln.
