SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — The annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in western South Dakota doesn't begin for another week, but some bikers already have embarked on their journey to the Black Hills.

Dale Abbott has traveled from Indiana to South Dakota. He tells KELO-TV in Sioux Falls that he's going to Sturgis for the first time. He says he wants to arrive the week before the rally starts and it gets "really crazy."

The event draws hundreds of thousands of people to western South Dakota each year. This year's rally is the 73rd annual.

Businesses in the eastern part of the state benefit, too. Jim Entenman with J&L Harley Davidson in Sioux Falls say that business still gets some of the same customers it had three decades ago.
