SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Some Sioux Falls students say the school district's Internet filter carries an anti-LGBT bias.

Senior Briggs Warren tells the Argus Leader newspaper that students are barred from accessing some resource sites for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. At the same time, they're able to access sites with negative views of homosexuality.

Sophomore Tristen Bly says "you feel like you don't belong."

School technology director Bob Jensen says it's rare that a site is blocked that shouldn't be blocked. He says the district chooses to err on the side of caution.

ACLU of South Dakota Executive Director Heather Smith says the blocked sites send a message that being gay, bisexual or transgender is wrong or shameful.

Jensen says the district has unblocked some sites providing LGBT resources.
