RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — The federal government shutdown has closed access to some popular Black Hills area tourist spots, but the regional tourism association says some are still visible.

Direct access is closed to Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Badlands National Park, Wind Cave National Park, Jewel Cave National Monument, Minuteman Missile National Historic Site and Devils Tower National Monument.

But the Black Hills & Badlands Tourism Association says the full faces of Mount Rushmore can be seen from Highway 16A and George Washington is visible from the vehicle pull-off area. And the Rushmore Borglum Historical Center in Keystone is also open.

The Badlands can be observed from either park entrance point on Highway 240.

And close views of Devils Tower can be seen from the trading post near the entrance.
