Snow Moves out of Southeastern South Dakota; I-29 Reopened

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Transportation Department officials have reopened Interstate 29 in southeastern South Dakota, and Sioux Falls police have lifted a no travel advisory for the city.

I-29 was closed during Tuesday's snowstorm from Exit 73 at Tea south to the Iowa border, and no travel was advised on some other highways in the region. Officials say many roads remain slippery, and they're urging motorists to be cautious.

The storm dropped heavy snow in the region. Reports include 17 inches in Vermillion, and 4-6 inches in Sioux Falls.

Many schools, businesses and organizations are closed or opening late. Mount Marty College in Yankton remains closed for a second day, and the school has postponed the Business and Career Expo scheduled for Wednesday until April 6.
