RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — The U.S. Forest Service is selling a small slice of the Black Hills National Forest in western South Dakota.

The Rapid City Journal reports that the 70-acre site has been divided into seven parcels and put up for sale to the highest bidder on the General Services Administration auction website.

The money raised will be used to build a new Hell Canyon Ranger District office building in Custer.

The parcels range from meadows to steep, rocky forest. Two each have a house with a detached garage, while the other five are undeveloped. The houses once were living quarters for rangers and seasonal employees, but they are now in need of repair.
