Skyforce Sink Greensboro Swarm in Tuesday Night Tilt

In their first ever meeting, the Sioux Falls Skyforce got the best of the visiting Greensboro Swarm 114-87 on Tuesday night. Plus the 'Force set a new franchise record for consecutive regular season home wins.

Greensboro (2-6) is one of three new NBA D-League franchises this season and came into the ballgame on a two game win streak. Sioux Falls (5-2) quickly extended a four-point halftime lead up to 18 in the third period to gain enough separation to earn the win.

That victory is number 14 in a row for regular season triumphs at home with their last loss on February 3, 2016 against Canton. Sioux Falls had a streak of 13 in the 1996-97 campaign.

Skyforce Head Coach Nevada Smith says there were lapses in the first half that kept the game close.

"We've got to do a better job of finishing plays. They got two offensive rebounds that led to six points. That was a big turning point in the first half. In the second half we didn't let those plays happen. We played with energy and did a good job of finishing every play."

Center Keith Benson emphasized the team’s desire to play their preferred tempo and communicate better defensively.

"Sometimes the other team goes on a run and we slow down. I think we got ourselves together in the second half and played better defense. Some people were playing individually in the beginning. We got together, talked about it and in the second half it got better."

Benson leads the league in blocked shots and swatted three against the Swarm to go with 18 points. Okaro White led Sioux Falls with 22 points and Jabril Trawick netted 20.

In addition, Briante Weber notched his second triple-double this season with 16 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds. Sioux Falls will travel to Des Moines to face the Iowa Energy on Saturday.

Rookie Rasheed Sulaimon led Greensboro with 22 points followed by Damian Wilkins with 21 and Mike Tobey finished with 18 points and 13 boards. The Swarm heads south to take on the Texas Legends on Thursday.
