Skyforce Shake and Bake Springfield Armor for Saturday Night Triumph
The Sioux Falls Skyforce rode a consistent offensive attack to a 124-109 victory over the Springfield Armor Saturday night at the Sanford Pentagon.
This model will fit nicely for at least one night as Sioux Falls (25-18) scored 30, 31, 32 and 31 points respectively in each quarter. Conversely, by turning up the defensive pressure in the second and third quarters made Springfield’s attack a little uneven. The Armor (18-24) output started at 37 in the first quarter, then dipped to 25 leading up to half and cratered in the third with only 19.
Skyforce coach Pat Delany feels that even though the defense could be more solid, getting the win is all that matters. “At this time of year, we’ll take (wins) any way we can get them, but I’m worried about our defensive identity. It’s been twelve games straight now (giving up) 100 plus points.”
On a bright note, twenty-five wins gives Sioux Falls the guarantee of breaking even this season. Adding to the shiny qualities of this win are the contributions of the new components. Chris Allen and Craig Smith were added to the team on Friday and scored 15 and 13 points respectively in reserve roles. Henry Walker danced his way to 27 points, Tre Kelley turned on the jets to finish with 19 points and Anthony Mason, Jr filled the highlight reel with 17 points and spectacular dunks. The proof can be witnessed in the adjoining clip as 3,253 fans roared their approval.
For the visitors, high man was Khailf Wyatt with 30 points plus 8 assists, Larry Anderson supplying 24 points with 13 rebounds and NBA veteran Devin Ebanks scored 18 points. For their next appearance Springfield will return home for a Monday contest with the Erie BayHawks. Meanwhile Sioux Falls will also take the court on Monday in a crucial showdown against the Iowa Energy.
