A superlative effort by the Skyforce backcourt was key to a road win in Grand Rapids 108-100 on Wednesday night.

Slow starts have been an emphasis for the Skyforce this season. Sioux Falls (24-7) amassed 42 points in the opening quarter which is the most scored in a 12 minute frame this season. The previous best was 36 against Raptors 905 on January 2. Rodney McGruder spent the opening frame scorching the nets going 4-5 from deep and only one Skyforce player missed more than one shot in the early goings.

Meanwhile the Drive (15-16) staged a valiant comeback in the second quarter, forging ahead late in the period before entering the break arrived with the visitors back in front by 5. Grand Rapids could never retake the lead in the second half, coming within one possession in the middle of the third frame and again with four minutes left.

Sioux Falls withstood the rally with two clutch buckets by Tre Kelley during the final three minutes vital to sweeping all three contests at the DeltaPlex this season. Kelley finished with 24 points and 9 assists. Bubu Palo chipped in 16 and McGruder had a season high 31 points on 11 of 17 from the floor. Also worth mentioning was the return of Greg Whittington from a two-month absence to score 13 points with 6 rebounds.

While the guards ruled for Sioux Falls, Grand Rapids had the big guys rolling with Henry Sims (27 points, 11 rebounds), Devin Ebanks (27 points, 4 steals) and Kammeon Holsey (12 points, 10 rebounds) carrying most of the load.

Sioux Falls will host Erie for their next excursion on Friday night. That same night, the Drive will try to snap their two-game losing streak at Idaho.
