HOT SPRINGS, S.D. (AP) — Contractors are moving equipment onto the site of a new veterans home being built in Hot Springs.

They plan to start site work next month and start laying the foundation in January.

The South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs says the project was delayed a bit because of "original escalated bids," but it was re-bid and is within budget.

The new two-story Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veterans Home will have 100 beds — 52 with skilled nursing care and 48 for non-skilled individual living quarters.
