Sioux Falls Woman Victimized in Fraud Case
A Sioux Falls woman in her sixties is out $400 after a scam that began in India.
Police Information Officer Sam Clemens says the woman got a call telling her something was wrong with her computer.
He says the caller was able to talk the 66-year-old woman into downloading software that allowed him access to her computer.
The caller said he, in turn, would install anti-virus software and a firewalll once he had remote access to her computer, so she wired the $400 to India.
Clemens says older people are often the ones victimized by this type of scam.
