A Sioux Falls teen led law enforcement authorities on a Smokey and the Bandit like car chase Thursday afternoon across eastern South Dakota, that would have made Burt Reynolds envious.

KDLT TV is reporting that police discovered 18-year-old Bret Arnold Davis of Sioux Falls driving a Honda Civic around 1:30 PM on Thursday (October 27) in Watertown, South Dakota. Davis was wanted on a previous felony warrant out of Brookings County. When authorities tried to pull over Davis, he refused, and a car chase ensued.

Davis took law enforcement officials on a four-county car chase that went through Hamlin County, Deuel County and into Brookings County.

During the chase, South Dakota Highway Patrol used a variety of means to get Davis to pull over including, tire spikes, which damaged the suspect's tires. The pursuit finally ended sometime later with Davis' vehicle going into a ditch on 197th Street near 477th Avenue close to the town of Toronto.

Davis was then taken into custody according to the Brookings County Sheriff's Department, where he now faces charges like aggravated eluding, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.
